Math Counts

The John Winthrop Math Counts activity traveled to HK Middle school for a pre-Coast Guard competition.  The 23 JW students faired very well and the team of Katie Morrissey, Dylan Collation, Dexter Newman, and Raen Corbett were selected at the competition to represent JW at the Coast Guard Academy in early February.  Additional member of the team representing JW as individuals were Sam Rector, Ben Proctor, Nic Wyszkowski, James Marsden, Saagar Patel, and Sam Fetter.  The team recently covered the Traveling Salesman Problem:  turns out that if you are the UPS driver, needing to deliver 12 packages in your truck, there are 479,000,000 ways to deliver them.  But, the team had to discover the most "Efficient Way".  Can you guess how many ways there would be if you had 25 locations to deliver?  That's 15 1/2 trillion trillion!  Better get started!
