7 West English homework policy

Homework is assigned to reinforce the skills and strategies taught during a lesson. Sometimes homework is given to allow you more thoughtful time to focus on a specific project. Mrs. Rolston is available to help you during all-skill and after school on Mondays.

As a student, you are expected to hand in assignments on time. Extra time is provided if you are absent from class. However, you are responsible for getting copies of missed class notes and assignments. Mrs. Rolston will provide you with the information you missed. Full credit will not be earned for late assignments unless approved by teachers.

Text Analysis

The Common Core State Standards require students to prepare for “college, workforce training, and life in a technological society, students need the ability to gather, comprehend, evaluate, synthesize, and report on information and ideas, to conduct original research in order to answer questions or solve problems, and to analyze and create a high volume and extensive range of print and non-print texts in media forms old and new.”  In order to accomplish these objectives, students will demonstrate their understanding of texts in many ways.

7 West English students will:

  • Focus on the analysis of fiction and nonfiction texts.
